Matcha & Dark Chocolate Energy Balls

I am totally obsessed with these delicious and easy to make matcha dark chocolate energy balls.

Matcha is everywhere at the moment, and for good reason. Did you know that matcha is rich in protective antioxidants and contains an amino acid called L-theanine, which can increase levels of our anti-anxiety neurotransmitter GABA – making it a great option for your mood.

Made with just 5 ingredients, these make the perfect, well balanced afternoon snack for a pick me up without the jitters.


  • 125g cashews
  • 40g maple syrup
  • 2.5 tsp matcha power – you can add more if you like the flavour!
  • 4 tbsp coconut flour
  • 3 tbsp coconut oil – melted
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla powder or 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 50g 70% plus dark chocolate


  • Soak the cashews in hot water for 30 mins until soft
  • Add to a blender and blend until they become a consistent paste with no large lumps
  • Melt your coconut oil and let cool for a few minutes
  • Then add all the other ingredients one by one, apart from the dark chocolate, and blend until you get a dough-like consistency
  • Take the dough out and roll into individual balls
  • Then melt the dark chocolate, and cover each matcha ball in dark chocolate and pop onto a plate lined with baking paper
  • Pop in the fridge for 30 mins/1 hour to set before taking out and enjoying!
